The Method

The Tactical
Capacity Model

Three phases, in the order they have to happen. Stabilize, Reduce, Build. This page is the whole model. Nothing is held back for the paid version.

Five self-audits. Free, and yours to keep.

The Argument

Order is the whole thing.

Most people who are running on empty try to build their way out. New system, new routine, new goal. It works for a few weeks and then it costs more than it returns, because it was built on a foundation already carrying its maximum load.

The sequence below is not a preference. Each phase makes the next one possible. Stabilize without reducing and the load simply refills the space. Reduce without stabilizing and there is nothing underneath to hold the decision. Build first and you are adding weight to a structure that is already at its limit.

Three phases. Twelve weeks is the version I teach. The order matters more than the calendar.

Phase One · Weeks 1-4

The Camel
Stabilize

The camel carries the load without question. That is the state most high-functioning people are in and it is why nobody intervenes. You are still producing, so it looks like it is working.

  • Restore the substrate first. Sleep, nervous system, physical baseline. Not optimization. Restoration.
  • Stop drawing on reserves you do not have. Adrenaline and willpower are a line of credit. Most people have been living on them for years without seeing the balance.
  • Count before you change anything. Almost nobody has ever measured their own sleep, their open loops or their reaction time. You cannot reduce a load you have never weighed.
  • Nothing gets removed yet. Phase one is not about saying no. It is about having something to say no from.

Phase Two · Weeks 5-8

The Lion
Reduce

The lion refuses. This is the phase everyone wants to skip and it is the one that actually changes the arithmetic. Your load did not arrive all at once. It arrived one yes at a time, each one small enough to agree to, and not one of them ever came back up for review.

  • Standing commitments have no expiry date. That is the mechanism. They accumulate quietly and the total never gets looked at.
  • Put every commitment on paper with its real cost. Door to door, not the meeting length. Then one question about each: would you say yes to it today?
  • Separate the load problem from the saying-yes problem. They look identical from the inside and they need different first moves.
  • Price the no before you deliver it. Who is actually affected, how badly, and for how long. The barrier was never identifying the load.

Phase Three · Weeks 9-12

The Child
Build

The child builds something new. Not a return to what you were doing with better habits. Something chosen deliberately, on a foundation that now holds.

  • Build on capacity, not on ambition. Ambition is not the constraint. It never was.
  • Progress should compound. If it costs more than it returns, phase one or two was skipped.
  • Clear the background first. Unfinished things run whether you look at them or not. Most tiredness is not workload.
  • This is the phase that lasts. The other two make it possible. On its own it is a New Year's resolution.

Where It Comes From

The camel, the lion and the child are not mine.

They are Nietzsche's three metamorphoses. I did not invent the sequence. I recognized it, because I had already lived it in that order without a name for it.

The Camel

Carried it

Eighteen years in Hollywood post production. Vice President and General Manager of a facility with a staff of 86, running a full P and L. I carried the load and I did not question it, because it was working.

The Lion

Refused

2012. I walked away from the title and from the industry. Not because it collapsed. Because I finally looked at what it cost and would not have said yes to it again.

The Child

Built

Phoenix. A business built deliberately from nothing, and then a second one. Slower than the first career and on a foundation I chose.

I circled this model for close to a decade before it was solid enough to teach, then ran it in the same order I teach it. That is the whole credential. There are no graduates to point to yet, and I say so.

Plainly

What this is not.

This is not therapy and it is not medical care. It makes no health claim and promises no outcome. If what surfaces belongs with a licensed professional, I will say so plainly and point you toward one.

It is also not a secret. The model is on this page in full. What the paid work buys is the sequence run on your life, with someone who has run it, holding the order when you want to skip to phase three.

Start Anywhere

Reading it does nothing. Counting does.

Five self-audits, free. Each one makes you count something you have never counted. None of them tell you what to do about it.

Open the Self-Audits

Print them and fill them in by hand. The writing is most of the work.
