I have carried the load you are carrying.
For eighteen years I worked in post-production. I finished as Vice President and General Manager of a major Hollywood facility, leading a team of more than 80. High output, high stakes, always on. I was good at it, and that is where I finally hardened what I learned as a child: that my worth was the weight I could carry.
Then came the years that took me apart. Parents and kids needed care. My health broke. I lost and regained sixty pounds twice. All of it while running my own business, because the business does not stop when you do.
I tried what everyone tries. Discipline first, on the theory that I had gone soft. Then the trainer. Then the diet. Then the productivity system, the sleep tracker, the supplements. Every one of them worked for a few weeks and then gave out, because I was pouring effort into a body and a nervous system with nothing left to hold it.
That is the part nobody told me. Capacity comes first. Output comes second. Do it in the other order and it collapses, every time.
It took me close to a decade to work out the sequence, and longer to make it teachable. That sequence is the Tactical Capacity Model.
